Prof. Bruno Gualano, PhD

Education

Bruno Gualano is an Associate Professor at School of Medicine of the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). He is Head of the Applied Physiology & Nutrition Research Group and Laboratory of Assessment and Conditioning in Rheumatology, and an Associate Researcher to Food Research Center (FoRC). He is also an Associate Editor of British Journal of Sports Medicine.

His research focus is on the role of physical exercise and nutrition strategies in sports and in the management of chronic conditions, including rheumatic diseases, obesity, sarcopenia and type 2 diabetes.

He has collaborations with over 15 international research centers and served as Visiting Professor at Nottingham Trent University (UK) and Waikato Institute of Technology (NZ). Prof. Gualano has over 260 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, including JAMA, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Nature Reviews Rheumatology, Diabetes, British Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Obesity Reviews, and Autoimmunity Reviews.
